The opening ceremony of the 10th Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons

Today, September 9, 2014 at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre "Astana Opera" was held the opening ceremony of the X Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons which was organized by the non-governmental organization "Kazakh Association of Neurosurgeons" and "National Centre for Neurosurgery" JSC of the National Medical Holding. On the threshold of the basic work of the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalykova opened the ceremony with her welcoming speech. In her speech, Deputy Prime Minister noted that the idea of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev to create the "Hospital of the Future" is being implemented. "National Centre for Neurosurgery, which was built on the initiative of the President, in a short time could achieve great success and recognition in the world. The new treatment methods of neurosurgical diseases were introduced in the Centre and successfully used in everyday practice, "- said Gulshara Abdykalykova. At the opening of the Congress, in a solemn ceremony, merits of outstanding neurosurgeons were marked for their personal contribution to the formation, development and international recognition of Kazakhstani neurosurgery. Thus, the medal "For the merits to the development of neurosurgery in Kazakhstan" was established by the decision of the Board of non-governmental organization "Kazakh Association of Neurosurgeons" and its award is the highest dignity and honor. And one of the first medals was awarded unanimously to Academician Alexander Konovalov. In addition the Academic Council awarded Mrs. Yoko Kato the title of “Honorary Professor of the National Centre for Neurosurgery” for her high merits to the development of neurosurgical educational process in Kazakhstan. Also the titles of Honorary Professor of the National Centre for Neurosurgery were awarded to Professors Peter Black, Madjid Samii, Alexander Potapov, and William Khachatryan. Professors Saleem Abdulrauf, Feridun Acar and Dzholdas Kuldjanov became the Honorary Members of the Association for the special contribution to the development of the Kazakh Association of Neurological Surgeons and strengthen its capacity.
