For a doctor, regardless of specialization and working experience, every patient is a unique case, and saving lives is a priority. And even if behind not one, but dozens of operations, each story of illness and recovery is delayed in the memory forever. The Hippocratic Oath teaches "Do no harm", together with this principle in the Republican Research Center for Neurosurgery (RRCN) initially operates another postulate - "Do not be indifferent". Unfortunately, life is arranged so that sickness and accidents that cause serious injury happen quite often. Then men in white coats come to the aid of patients. On their professionalism, skills, promptly and properly diagnose of the disease, their sensitive attitude depends life, and sometimes – simultaneously two lives. Such a unique event took place a few years ago in the walls of RRCN. Together with colleagues from the National Research Center of Motherhood and Childhood, neurosurgeons fought to save a pregnant patient and her son. “I felt a sharp deterioration and lost consciousness. After that I do not remember anything” says Zhanylsyn Uteshova. All this took place in 2008. Woman was urgently taken to the emergency room of the RRCN. At that time, her condition was assessed as critical, was the preliminary diagnosis - acute ischemic stroke on hemorrhagic type. With this defeat of the brain human can die without regaining consciousness. The situation was complicated by the fact that the patient was eight months pregnant. “We understand that there is a real threat, for two lives” - the doctors say. On a consultation doctors decided that surgery cannot be avoided. Doctors of the Neurosurgery Center recognized that the brain surgery and cesarean section at the same time was a rare case in medical practice. With common efforts of neurosurgeons and obstetricians was born a healthy boy! His mother spent three weeks in intensive care unconsciously, unaware that gave birth to son. Take the baby on her hands she was able only 16 days after his birth. Today, our heroine and her baby are fine; the boy grows healthy and makes happy his parents. This is truly a unique story was shown in a short documentary at the opening of the II Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Mother and little Yerasyl also attended the forum. Another story with a happy ending says 33-year-old patient M., whose life was saved by the doctors of the Center. Our heroine for many years could not have children. The long-awaited pregnancy after years of infertility occurred after the third attempt in vitro fertilization. Woman’s happiness had no bounds. However, in 2012, at the 18th week of pregnancy, the future mother was taken to the emergency room of the RRCN with unbearable headache. When doctors saw the results of the MRI, they had shock: the woman has a brain tumor, which was gradually killing her unborn child. The tumor was impressive size, delay was too dangerous. In a matter of urgency, neurosurgeons of the Neurosurgery Center and obstetricians of the Center of Motherhood and Childhood gathered for a consultation: it was decided to microsurgical removal of the tumor with preservation of pregnancy. The operation was successful. After two hours mother woke up from the anesthesia and the first thing to ask was "What's wrong with my baby?". At this point, doctors realized that they made the right decision: for woman to born baby was the meaning of all her life. There followed a phase of rehabilitation. Four months later came to light long-awaited daughter! Today, doctors liaise with a happy mother and her baby, who are both excellent. “I pray for the doctors who saved us, and will always be grateful to them” says the happy mother. – “They gave us two lives at once!” In turn, for doctors involved in the operation, it was also a great pleasure and an invaluable experience. Through such cases, we - patients - can be sure that our doctors - real talents with golden hands and kind hearts.
