Doctors at the National Center for Neurosurgery removed a giant brain tumor

Neurosurgeons of the Department of Brain Pathology removed a giant meningioma in a 52-year-old man. A tumor of the meninges that had grown into the base of the skull.

The tumor was so large that developed a large lump-like formation on patient's head in the left frontoparietal region. He was constantly tormented by headaches, dizziness, high blood pressure, decreased sensitivity in the lower extremities, tinnitus and weakness. The tumor size reached 85*60*55 mm.

According to the head of the Department of neurosurgery for brain pathology, Dr. Nurzhan Ryskeldiev, meningioma was discovered after an MRI, and the man was sent for surgical treatment to the National Center for Neurosurgery. “The patient underwent microsurgical removal of a meningioma of the frontoparietal region extra, intracranial growth on the left, using neuronavigation and hardware reinfusion. The tumor was completely removed. The operation lasted 5 hours. After the tumor was removed, the patient’s blood pressure normalized, his health improved, and he can again take care of himself independently,” noted the neurosurgeon.

It is worth noting that this operation was performed free of charge for the patient within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance. The possibility of a favorable outcome with such interventions can only be achieved in highly specialized centers with modern diagnostic and surgical equipment and qualified specialists.

The operation was performed by doctors with many years of experience: the head of the department of neurosurgery of brain pathology, professor of JSC "NCN" Dr. Nurzhan Ryskeldiev and neurosurgeon Dr. Aidos Kurmanahunov, as well as anesthesiologist-resuscitator Dr. Raushan Tokshekenova, nurse anesthesiologist Ainagul Seitenova and operating nurse Damir Muratov
