4 years since the launch of Gamma Kinfe in the Center

To date, 1,919 patients have successfully undergone treatment using the Gamma Knife system at the National Center for Neurosurgery.

The Gamma Knife is a modern, minimally invasive method for treating brain tumors, as well as vascular and functional disorders of the brain. Its key advantage lies in its exceptional precision and safety. Radioactive beams from 192 cobalt-60 sources are accurately focused on the pathological target, destroying the DNA of tumor cells while preserving surrounding healthy tissue.

The procedure is painless and performed without craniotomy. It is completed in a single session and, unlike conventional radiation therapy, does not require repeated treatments. For citizens of Kazakhstan, the procedure is provided free of charge under the Mandatory Social Health Insurance system.
